Here’s some points I took away from it.

Dave Ramsey’s 3 Things You Must Do If Your Struggling With Hope

Get up and take massive action. Get moving. Inject yourself in the problem to find a solution. No watching Oprah re-runs. Your best chance at success is you. Activity is your answer. You need to Happen To things.

Don’t participate in loser talk. Your income will be around 10% of the average compensation of your friends and those who you hang out with. Read the book “Who Move My Cheese,” because your cheese has been moved.

Give again. The American public are the most giving people in the world. If you have no money right now, give of your time. Get your worrying mind off you and assist other people and causes.

A father is supposed to teach his child the ways of the world. He is supposed to show his son how to be a man, how to respectively treat a woman and open up a car door for her. Do you have a favorite memory or life lesson taught by your father? I do.

Its how to make “Butter Bread.”

One of my favorite lessons from my father was how to make this wonderful snack.

When I was growing up, my father worked hard at Pennzoil Oil Company. When he came home he was rock-solid tired, but he knew he had to get back up to support my excellent high school football career at Francis Howell North.

He needed energy. He turned to “Butter Bread”.

He would pull out the loaf of WonderBread from the pantry. Place it next to his drink he bought at QuickTrip, which was on the breakfast bar. Next, he went over to refrigerator and grabbed a stick of butter, then opened the silverware drawer for a knife.

He would carry his tools to the breakfast bar. Before he started the assembly. He would take a long sip of his drink. Pause. Cut four or six tabs of butter. Then spread the butter gently over two pieces of bread, as if he was taught by Mr. Miyagi of Karate Kid The Movie.

Dad’s three step Butter Bread Ritual was:

Another long sip.

Fold bread in half.

Insert in mouth.

I told you that story to tell you this…

I no longer eat bread and I am loving the results.

For the past two weeks, I have given up eating bread and cut back dramatically on my sugar intake. I’m not close to being over-weight. However, a good friend of mine from Purdue University, told me that removing this simple from his diet he was able to move his belt, three notches in the “right” direction.

I have seen my obliques (for those who graduated from Francis Howell North that is the muscle on the side of your body, right above your hips) shrink, I to moved my belt buckle a notch in the right direction, and I feel more energetic.

If you currently have the body that you deserve… now you would like to get the body that you want. Put down the knife, place the butter back in the refrigerator and take the bread out of your mouth.

Exceeding Expectations,

P.S. I’m nearly done with our new website on How To Grow Grapes and Make Wine in The Midwest. I just need to place a few more pretty graphics and upload the audio version for those of you who would rather listen than read.

Unless you’ re still in junior high, you realize that we are living in some challenging times. Challenging times for our business consist of things like: employees not showing up on time or not at all, increased cost of simple things like sugar, re-negotiating real estate leases, and finally getting the right amount of sleep and drinking enough water.

To be honest with you it is difficult to stay motivated by myself. To get up before the sun and paint the smile on my face before I head out to conquer my day. I need all the help that I get. I receive a lot of my motivation from my family. Every week we have a family conference call (we live in different parts of the country). In this call, we don’t chit-chat, we discuss our challenges and different strategies to overcome our difficulties.

I also receive motivational help from Otis Williams, author of Words of Wisdom. He created a 2 tape audio program called “Staying Motivated In Challenges Times.” I listen to his tapes every 4 months. Here’s his..

4 Ways To Stay Motivated in Challenging Times

Accept The Challenge

View challenges as life’s exams.

Realize that challenges come to test your endurance.

Accept the challenge and discover your potential.

Control Your Attitude

Remember attitude is a choice

Remember your thoughts control your life.

Remember to feed your attitude positively.

Stay Focused

Focus on why you have got to make it through.

Focus on the lesson and grow through the experience

Focus on the opportunity

Keep The Faith

Never Ever quit! The situation is not hopeless.

Be still and know that you are going to make it.

Visualize your victory.

There is a short poem that I have burned into my memory. I don’t know who the author was, but I heard it on the audio tape from Otis Williams. It is one of my motivational war chants to get-up and get-moving, when all I want to do is call-it-a-day and go-to-sleep, have you ever had one of those days? If you have burn this poem into your memory…

Don’t Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit!

Life is queer with its twists and its turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When they might have won, had they stuck it out.
Don’t give up though the pace seems slow,
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victors cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit!

Exceeding Expectations,

Kendall Matthews, The Barbecue Apostle ™

Lately I’ve been very frustrated with myself because I know I can produce more positive results. I want to see at least one of my grandiose visions become reality.

Before I climbed into my king-sized bed, I went online to see what was going on in the news. I saw was that Barack Obama already started “The Change”.

I read a few articles on what our president Barack Hussein Obama was able to accomplish on his first day in office; even while he was at the presidential parades and fancy balls.

It didn’t matter who I voted for, I realized what I was doing wrong. The articles, made me realize why 80 percent of the time I felt like I was just spinning my wheels.

Before I went to sleep, I wrote…

5 Powerful Ways To Generate Change Like Barack Obama:

One: You Must Plan. William Faulkner said, “A mule will labor ten years willingly and patiently for you, for the privilege of kicking you once.” I have found myself at times doing more kicking, but missing my target. If it takes 10 minutes, 10 hours, 10 weeks or 10 months, I must do a better job of placing my vision on paper and reverse engineer on how I am to get there. I would love to interview the marketing folks of Team Obama and ask them how did they come up with their marketing plans.
Two: You Must use the Internet Technology. On January 20, 2009 at 12:01 pm, Team Obama, presented a completely overhauled White House website, with a goal of increasing “online engagements.” If we were to compare market research budgets, Team Obama’s would be the size of the Sun and mine would look like an ant. However, I’m smart, I like to presume, to be an ant who would harvest information when the sun shines bright on the obvious… we, entrepreneurs, must use all aspects of Internet technology more effectively and in a massive way to interact with our target audience. From blogs, email marketing, mobile marketing message blasts, toll-free call-capture marketing to online video using Web 1.0 and 2.0 techniques to engage your target market is better on your pocket book and your message. Oh, did I say its track-able.

Three: You Must Have to A Team. You can’t be successful alone, Hillary Clinton, said, “It takes a village to raise a child.” In Barack Obama’s case, it takes adding those who have bought into your vision and are willing and able to produce massive results. You may not have the budget to hire employees, but you can learn how to find great talent through outsourcing.

Four: You Must Involve Other People. The President Obama Neighborhood Inaugural Ball was a great idea. For the first time ever, this event allowed the ordinary Jane and Joe the Plumber experience presidential schmoozing. Besides the awkward dancing and the congratulatory high-fives, I saw not only engagement, by having people send in digital pictures, but also rewards, by broadcasting pictures in near real-time… which makes those involved want to do more.

Five: You Must Have A Marketing Mindset. If you are an entrepreneur, regardless of the economy, Never Stop Marketing! Not even when you achieve your results. Life doesn’t stop…until you do.

Exceeding Expectations,

Kendall Matthews, The Barbecue Apostle ™

Ps. Follow 80/20 Principle habits. 20% of your outputs will generate 80% of your results. Your mission, if you so choose to accept, is to determine what do you do that produces the most results.
