St. Louis, Missouri. (April 1, 2010) – Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse & Catering Company, St. Louis’ #1 non-franchise bbq restaurant, today announced that it has been acquired by Ozzie Smith.
This acquisition will be a part of Ozzie’s extension of the ‘fast-casual’ brand and a precursor to their new foray into hickory-smoked meats.
“Fast-casual dining continues to grow in popularity, not only for families but by time-crunched lunch crowds around the O’Fallon area. Once seen as a ‘fools game’ – fast-casual dining has now grown up.” said a Ozzie Smith representative today. “Ms. Piggies’s new 50-seat dining room and their ‘Lunch & Listen’ Jazz Fridays will put an amazing amount of food into the mouths the community, which will take their restaurant and catering opportunities to the next level.” said a Ozzie Smith representative today.
“What better community brand to align our new focus with than Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse & Catering Company, a restaurant that has consistently gotten better over the past ten years.”
“Some have called me a ‘fool’ for even considering selling Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse,” said founder of Ms. Piggies’ Anita Matthews, “but I’d be a fool not to allow the Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse brand to be developed by one of St. Louis’ most captivating personalities. I’m excited to see where Ozzie Smith will take Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse going forward.”
The acquisition of Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse will allow her son Kendall Matthews to concentrate on their other projects including – 31 Days To Building A Better BBQ Restaurant – and an upcoming new concept –FoolsBBQ.
Anita Matthews will remain a part of Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse over the next 331 days where she plans to to begin a video series of posts entitled ‘331 days to Build an Even Better BBQ Restaurant ’ – a follow up to the her son’s 31 Days to Build a Better BBQ Restaurant Blog.
