That’s what folks have said about the hickory-smoked barbecue sauce Kenneth Matthews made while he was growing up in St. Louis, Missouri. But Kenneth didn’t know any different, you see since he was two-years old he would have these vivid dreams about events of his life in the future…

And after coming back from Vietnam many of them were coming true.

When Kenneth married Anita Reynolds from Selma, Alabama, he told her about the special dreams he had as a child. One of them was to start a Saint Louis ribs barbecue restaurant. The newlyweds couldn’t realize that dream right away. For years, it laid dormant, waiting for the opportunity.

As soon as they became empty-nesters and their sons started families of their own, Kenneth and Anita Matthews gave life to Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse & Catering Company.

They found themselves a place in Overland and started cooking hickory smoked barbecue Saint Louis style! Naturally, Anita added some of her own special down-south touches, like stuffed potatoes and fried catfish. After opening in October 1999, a dream deferred became reality.

And Ms. Piggies’ Smokehouse & Catering Company grew and grew and just like many others,  dreams can come true…
